IETE stands for "The Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers". The Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE) is India's leading recognized professional society devoted to the advancement of Science and Technology of Electronics, Telecommunication & IT. Founded in 1953, it serves more than 80,000 members through various centers, spread all over India and abroad.
The Institution provides leadership in Scientific and Technical areas of direct importance to the national development and economy. Government of India has recognized IETE as a Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (SIRO) and also notified as an educational Institution of national eminence. The objectives of IETE focus on advancing electro-technology. The IETE conducts and sponsors technical meetings, conferences, symposia, and exhibitions all over India, publishes technical journals and provides continuing education as well as career advancement opportunities to its members.
BIT Sindri student chapter of IETE is playing a pioneer role in helping BIT, emerge as the hub of Technical destiny. It provides opportunities to BITians to brush up their technical skills and development taking place at global level .It is one the Society that gives the members a global recognition.
IETE celebrates "Engineer’s day" on 15th September, the birth anniversary of Sir Mokshagundam Vishwesharaya,an eminent engineer ,statesman and a great human being. Apart from Engineers day IETE also celebrates World Telecommunication day ,IETE establishment day etc.The most prominent work of IETE students chapter is organizing The Annual Tech fest “TECH UDBHAV”.
TECH UDBHAV is envisioned as the confluence of students, academia and the industry and over the years it has been successful in its endeavours to achieve these objectives.
With an aim to bring students closer to science and technology through many of its initiatives, IETE is shining bright all because of the effort and dedication of its Members, Professors and Industrial & Commercial support.
IETE members round the year keep themselves updated with Technical advancements and Personality development sessions. For this purpose members meet weekly on Thursdays after class hours.
Events incorporated in TECH UDBHAV are:
Inter Branch Tech Quiz Contest: The mind battle among the branches to prove that they are best in the business. Students are tested on basis of their aptitude, reasoning and technical knowledge.
Mr. & Miss Technocrat: It’s the hunt for the most techno cool buddy of the institute. The participants face a series of mind-boggling questions on stage which are designed to check their technical knowledge, audio-visual reasoning and decision making power. Finally a guy and a girl are crowned as the Mr. and Miss Technocrat of BIT.
Insight: It is the Technical Paper presentation segment which provides the budding technocrats an opportunity to show presentations in front of literates and professors on topics such as cryptography & network security, Next generation engines etc.
Source Code: It’s the most exciting section for the computer geeks. Participants are required to develop their own indigenous software in form of applications or games in language/database of their choice.
Web-o-mania: It’s the hunt for next Zukerberg, all those students interested in designing websites can participate and show their web designing skills and they are judged by Web designing gurus of BIT.
Armageddon: It’s one of the Robotics event that checks the creativity of participants in designing a Bot/machine that can perform a given task. Like creating a robot which can drag/pick & drop balls into their respective colour pit.
Wild Ride: it’s another section of robotics which is quite interesting and the aim is to design a manually controlled All terrain vehicle that has to complete track that consists of various obstacles in minimum count of time.
Shape the scrap: The main aim of this section is to promote the concept of building useful things out of waste material. Group participants are provided some scrap material and within a time limit they need to build the given structure such as a bridge or bag.
CKNG: Chalti ka naam gaadi is an exclusive section for the first year young chaps. It is a fun filled section where representatives from each branch participate in a quiz round and the winner gets loads of exciting prizes.
Room-de-Techies: It’s again an event for the First year students in which the all the roommates of first year participate to win the title of “the best roomies” of the batch.
Clicks: It’s the search of the best Photographers in the campus. If you have passion for photography it’s the best arena to show your skills.
On spot: there are various on spot events, which keeps entertaining you throughout the event.
Live angry birds, NFS hot pursuit, bull’s eye-darting game etc. are some of its kind.
A Seminar was Organized by IETE students chapter and Institution of Engineers (Dhanbad local center) on 20th feb’12 on the topic “Convergence of Engineering Education through Information & Communication Technology”.
Students and professors presented papers in the presence of dignitaries from Institution of engineers , senior scientists from CIMFR( Dhanbad) , honorable Director sir and esteemed professors.
