The Department of Chemical Engineering was established in the year 1956. The department offers four years BSc(Engg) degree course with an annual intake of 40 students. One and a half year postgraduate program leading to MSc(Engg) with specialization in Petroleum Refinery Engineering and Chemical Plant Engineering, and one year program leading to Post Graduate Diploma in Instrumentation Engineering are also offered. The annual intake is 7 and 5 in MSc(Engg) and PG Diploma programs respectively. The department also renders consultancy services for tackling technical problems faced by neighboring industries.
The department has several well equipped laboratories required for undergraduate and postgraduate programs. The specialized laboratories include: Unit Operations Lab, Process Control Lab, Petroleum Refinery Engineering Lab, Plastic Technology Lab, Unit Process Engineering Lab etc.
